First names could be useful as well as birth year, marriage year, and what states they arrived at and lived in.

There is a John J Schmitt Born circa 1842 in Bavaria. His wife (Dorathea Schmit [unknown maiden name]) was born circa 1941 in Bavaria. They both died in Baltimore, Maryland where MANY Schmitts are located today. They had nine kids, Adam Schmitt born c. 1865, William Adam Schmitt born c. 1866, Martin J Schmitt born c. 1872, John G Schmitt born c. 1873, Maria Schmitt born c. 1874, August M Schmitt born c. 1875, Benedict G Schmitt born c. 1877, Philip B Schmitt born c. 1879, and finally Frederick M Schmitt born c. 1869.
