COVERT-725 I'm looking for a will or obituary for Alexander Covert to find information on siblings, wives and children. Born 1834 in Clark county Indiana

died 1879 in Scott county Indiana at least 1 son Adolphus Covert

There is not one listed (a will) on Ancestry, (they have a pretty good collection), but you might try the probate court in Scott County Indiana

I can say with almost certainity that there was 2 Alexander Covert's around this time due to newspaper articles. It seems that the 2nd Alexander had a brother Henry who he got into a huge fight with and they ended up killing each other in 1879(or at least Alexander shot and killed Henry and was killed by someone else I didn't pay much attention). Their father was a Lucas Covert which shows this is another family.

I found an Alexander Covert in the 1850 Monroe, Clark, Indiana.

Thank you Carol The 1st 1850 census is the right one i Have it and he did Marry Nancy Johnson on 16 Mar 1865. Nancy was married before to John Pond they had 4 children Issac, Charles, John and Sarah Elizabeth. Her husband John Pond was in the 6th Indiana Infantry with Alexander and was killed at Nashville. Alexander and Nancy had 2 more boys James and George. What i'm trying to find out is. 1][ Most everything I've found says Adolphus was born 20 Sep 1859.  His mother  Emily Lux dies 18 Mar 1859. 6 months before she had him. 2] who are Emily[s parents. Thru my Ancestry DNA test and their DNA circles they say I'm related to a William Gregory Lux and Mary Ann Kelly who were Husband and Wife. And it gives me several matches only my cousin who i do research with has a Emily. Census records show no Emily for Wiliam and Mary non of the matches have an Emily in their trees. 3] What happens to James and George. the last i can find for either is a 1870 census That shows Alexander married to Nancy with Adolphus 11, James 4 George 1 Charles Pond 11 John Pond 9 and Elizabeth pond 7. And a 1880 census with Nancy No Alexander George 12, John Pond 19 and Sarah Pond 16. I also have divorce papers for Alexander and Nancy from 1874.4] The US government bought Alexander a head stone in 1879 because he was a civil war Veteran. And it was placed in Marysville Indiana 14 Feb 1879. Then a Marriage to Carrie Stinning in 1881. There were 2 Alexander Coverts born about the same time and place and 2 Adolphus's I'm pretty sure i got the right Adolphus because because my dad said he was the right one he was 18 when his grand father died and also 2 other of Adolphus's Grandchildren have told me the same thing. I have done a lot of research on Alexander Emily and Nancy i want to add Emily to wikitree enough proof to add her. I'll keep looking a will or probate might give me something more to go on for James and George and I guess keep looking for Emily Thank you again Carol, Bye Karl
