Parents of George Walton????

George Walton was b. 1875 (approximately)  in Muscogee Georgia USA and I cannot locate any records of his birth, or any records (marriage/death/military) listing who his parents were...

I'm assuming that George's parents were slaves at one time, however I cannot even attach them to a near by plantation...

Help on finding the parents of George Walton is greatly appreciated!

There are four black George Waltons born 1870-1879 in the 1880 Georgia census. One is listed as the son of Thomas and Alamede. They moved to Arkansas. So not them. George born 1870, son of George and Isabelle is still living at home in 1900 working as a tailor. George, listed as grandson of L. Thornton. No further info on this family.

George born 1870 is listed as a grandson of Charity. This George has a brother Thomas. Your George named his son Tommie. Maybe track this family

Eddie,  thank you so much!  I was beating my head against the wall!

I went back to the 1880 Census and here George is list as a son of Charity...

Back then, just up from slavery, NAMES stayed in families, sons and grandsons named in honor of the lost loved ones. I found the origin of my King line, in 1870, knowing only two things. My grampa was Renzo King (Lorenzo) and his best friend and cousin was Quitman Walker https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Walker-28179

and they were named after their grampses out of Mississippi. I combed the 1870 Mississippi census for black men named Lorenzo, didn't use a surname and Quitman, didn't use a surname. . Found LORENZO WOODS and Quitman Walker. . They took me to

and Grams already told about the Civil War soldier.

I haven't filled in my whole tree yet but I know and can document everybody now. So, work the names, my friend. Your George had a son Thomas. The 1870 George had a brother Thomas who looks likely died young. Take a leap of faith.
