Does Joanna Unknown Skidmore Baldwin = Goody Baldwin in Goody Knapp witch trial?

+8 votes

I am wondering if is the Goody Baldwin that was a witness in the Goody Knapp witch trial in 1653 Connecticut.  I think it may be possible after reading R. G. Tomlinson's "Witch Trials of Connecticut; First Comprehensive Documented History" specifically page 7 which discusses the Goody Knapp case. As well as "The Baldwin Genealogy, from 1500 to 1881", pages 406 and 407.

I would like some other opinions if possible. I wouldn't want to propose adding this type of information to a profile without asking some pros for their thoughts!

Thank you!

She's the only Baldwin wife mentioned in Jacobus' Hist and Gen of the Families of Old Fairfield, alive at the time. But that doesn't constitute proof, but makes it a good possibility.
That's great! Thanks for finding that little nugget of info.
