Any male descendants after William Pitt the younger

Question

Am trying to find out if our Pitt relatives are related to the famous two.

We have been led to believe we are.

I think you have to go back to his father and probably before that if you want to find descendants. Pitt the elder's daughter might provide a source. Pitt the younger never married. Whether he had illegitimate children I can't discover.

I think everyone with a relative with the Pitt name must have been told they're related at some point. (I know I've been told that)

There's no suggestion of any descendants for Pitt the younger. But if you're descended from his great, great, great, great, grand father you're still related to the famous two.

I currently have four places where my tree links to famous surnames where no clear link to the significant members can be found, yet family history tells of a link...

My maternal grandmothers dad (my great grandpa), Wilmur Pitt was a decendant....she had 4 boys

There don't seem to be very many descendants  with the Pitt name from his ancestors either.

William Pitt, the Elder was (according to Burke)  a descendant of  Thomas Pitt of Blandford, who was a younger son of the  Pitt family of Dorset.(who confusingly  became the Pitt Rivers) Their line also ran out  in the 1820s when a nephew inherited through his mother Louisa Pitt https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horace_Pitt-Rivers,_3rd_Baron_Rivers

 Then the title  became extinct in 1880 when Horace the 6th Baron Pitt Rivers died.  The  estates but not the title  were inherited by a cousin, the archaeologist  Augustus Henry Lane-Fox Pitt Rivers who had to change his surname name from Lane Fox  in order to inherit the estates.  His descendants still own large swathes of Dorset. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augustus_Pitt_Rivers  But they aren't really Pitts.
