Asked in 2015, and revisiting my brick wall...I'm looking for help on...

Dennis or Danis Francis Sullivan was born about 1850 in Ireland and died in St Louis on 25 Oct 1885.

He had several spelling of his first name. Dionysus, Danis, Denis, Dennis.

What I have so far: His parents are both listed as born in Ireland on 1880 census. I have copies of his marriage and death records and no parents names are mentioned. I don't know immigration info other than a guess on a FamilyTree tree. There are no living males that I can communicate with to test Y-DNA at this time.

He was married to Ella Adelia (Snow) Sullivan on Oct. 8, 1872 in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Info I received from a reply in WikiTree Forum!!!

Wife Ella Adelia Snow, is the daughter of Louis Snow and Sylvia Snow, was born on Feb. 20, 1855 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States and died on Jan. 1, 1933 in Two Buttes, Baca County, Colorado, United States. Dennis and Ella had 4 children before he accidentally shot himself.

Children: John L Sullivan was born on Dec. 15, 1873 in Missouri, United States and died on Mar. 19, 1944 in Los Angeles, California, United States. Danis Sullivan, Jr. was born in 1876 in Missouri, United States and died on an unknown date. Sylvia Sullivan was born in 1879 and died After 1953. Louis Sullivan was born in Mar. 1882 and died on an unknown date.

On a 1880 Census, his occupation is "House Mover." Also living in the house was a cousin named Tom Tannahan, age 25, from Ireland. I've tried to find any connection to Tannahon* (spelling from Census) with no luck.

And with much gratitude and respect for time involved in research, I humbly will thank anyone in advance for answers on my brick wall.

Yours truly, [[Sullivan-756| Kelly Sullivan]]

Thanks for the info Frank, but my Dennis was dead in 1885 from an accidental gunshot wound. I appreciate the reply though!

Hard to say how many men named Dennis Sullivan were born in 1850 in Ireland who came to the United States.

I am the second great-grandson of Dennis Sullivan and Elizabeth Malone who were born in Ireland in the early 1800's.  I don't know where they lived in Ireland, so this is a brick wall I'm trying to break.

Jeremiah John Sullivan, born 18 Aug 1859 in Cornwell, PA was Dennis Sullivan's son. His son, John Lawrence Sullivan, 1892-1961 was my grandfather.
