Thank you, Mark. Yes, Jefferson was his name but he preferred to go by Jeff Davis. I have a lot of information on him in my Ancestry.com files but Wiki didn't let me add it ???  His father was Deloniga (note the spelling if different in many census records) Dalernaga/Dahlonega.  I also have Deloniga (LON)'s father as John Davis born 1826 in Georgia but that is as far as I have ever been able to confirm. All of these were living in Nassau County, Florida around the time of their death.  I have not ever found any middle name or confirm that these were their first names. I also know that there was another 'John C. Davis' around the area about the same time who most have listed as my John Davis but this is INCORRECT. They are not related.  There were 2 Davis lines in this area at the time.
