Did Carolina Brun really leave Sweden to go to Muskegon? and what became of her family?

Carolina Brun marries Anders Johan Karlsson 1n 1866 and by 1880 they have 4 children and are living in Skeda.  The family gives notice that they are moving to Trehörna.  They never arrive.  I have found no record of Carolina nor her family in the 1880 Swedish Census.  I did find a record of a Caroline Brun leaving Sweden for the US in 1880; but she seems to be traveling alone.  Can someone help me discover what has happened to this family.

She's not travelling alone in May of 1880 and this has to be her.

Julius is listed as Gideon where really David is David Gideon but the boys are the right age and they are from Trehorna.  So who is Axel Carlson?  There is an Axel Alfred Carlson leaving in the 1880 uttflyttnings.

And what happened to Anders Johan and Hilma?
Cliff.  I can not access your source (Ancestry).  Can you help me out?

Sorry Norm, it's a page from the Ancestry Gothenburg records for 28 May 1880.

Name: Caroline Brun Departure Date: 28 maj 1880 (28 May 1880) Departure Place:Göteborg (Gothenburg), Göteborg och Bohus, Ship Name: Orlando  Birth Date: abt 1844  Birth Place: Jönköping Län Trehörna  Age: 36  Destination: Hull, England

She is travelling with an Axel Carlson from Trehörna - 19 yrs old and she has 3 kids with her: Johan 11, Gideon 8 and David 6.  Julius b. 26 Apr 1872 is probably listed as Gideon - a mix-up because David's name is David Gideon? There is no Anders Johan and no Hilma.

I'm trying to figure out how to paste an image here so that will follow (I hope :-)

I can't figure out a way to paste an image here so if you want to get your email address to me I can send that Gothenburg listing.  Their destination was Muskegon, Michigan by the way, just as you mention in your original question.

Looking at Carolina's family I imagine an Axel Carlson who is 19 in 1880 is maybe a nephew.  Her brother August has a son Axel Melchor born 1859 although I dopn't see how he's Axel Carlson in the record?
Anders Johan Carlsson's younger brother [Trehörna (F, E) AI:11 (1866-1870) Image 173 / page 163] Axel Alfred Carlsson (24 April 1862) left Stubben, Trehörna for Amerika in May 1880 [Trehörna (F, E) AI:13 (1876-1880) Image 1150 / page 107].  Emigranten Popular 2006 lists him leaving at the same time as Cristine Brun, destination Muskegon. Gustaf Brun's Estate inventory [Lysings häradsrätt (E) FII:52 (1886-1888) Image 425 / page 841] has Karolina married to Anders Johan Karlson still in 1888 and living in Minnesota, N. Amerika.

My guess is that Hilma became ill, Anders stayed in Sweden with her and Axel used his ticket to travel with and assist Carolina.

I see no posiitive evidence that this is the correct Carolina Carlson.

A lot of people left Trehörna parish for America, so perhaps the family was just stopping there on their way. Have you checked the departure records for the parish to see if you can find them leaving Trehörna?

Up until 1894.  I do not see them leaving Trehörna.  I do not know if they left Sweden.  They seem to not be recorded in the Swedish Census.
