Last month, sourced profiles had been created on Wikitree for all Little events in Scotland and Cumberland (England) before 1700. These have been extracted from FindMyPast, one of the most comprehensive UK online resources, admittedly behind a pay wall.
Many of the profiles have been connected, though there is much Matching, Researching and Merging still to be done. There will undoubtedly be more Littles identified in less conventional records than the usual BMD sources, and as more sources are digitised and made available. And for traditional genealogists, there are plenty of sources for this part of the world that are not yet online or even transcribed.
Also, there is still plenty of work to be done in adding further sources to the existing profiles and filling out biographies.
There are, of course, still many more sourced Little profiles to be created for this region and the period 1700 - 1850, as the 17th century wars, religious persecution, plagues and turmoil subsided and the population greatly increased. After 1850, the genealogy becomes much easier because of the publicly available comprehensive census records, every ten years from 1841 to 1911.
There are well-proven links to the American Colonies, and tantalising links to other parts of England such as the Midlands and the South-West, and Northern Ireland.
So, if you are interested in Little (Lytle, Litle, Littell, etc) ancestry and the Anglo-Scottish Borders, please join in!
