Am I a Mayflower descendant?

I am the 7th great nephew of Joseph Crossman-13 who married Sarah Alden-97, granddaughter of John Alden-63. Joseph and Sarah had four children, my 1st cousins, 8 times removed. Would this relationship qualify me as a Mayflower descendant?  In addition Sarah's aunt Alden-4 married son of Myles Standish-112. Do I have a relationship with the Standish family? I would appreciate any response to my question.

Hi Lloyd,

As you fill out your branches more you might find a direct ancestor who traveled on the Mayflower.

Right now (assuming the information is correct) you could claim a "relationship" but not to be a "descendant".

So the answer is no, for now :)

Have a great day,

- Keith

Doing the math, I would say no. But let's leave it to the experts who will chime in soon.

What do you mean by "doing the math" Too many generations for my relationship?
It seems that you may be connected to them through marriage, but if more of the blanks are filled in with names of your ancestors you might have a direct ancestor there.
My 7th great grandfather, Robert-29 was the brother of Joseph Crossman-13.
Does Joseph have a direct line up to a Mayflower ancestor or is it only through marriage?
Joseph Crossman, Sr. Married Sarah Alden, but of course, his son Joseph, Jr. would have link.
Yes, Joseph jr would but that still does not define a direct line for you through the Aldens.

Thanks so much.  But I can still say with accuracy my 7th great uncle married the granddaughter of John Alden!  Now is can say I fit into the following definition as shown in Wikipedia: A collateral descendant is a legal term for a relative descended from a brother or sister of an ancestor, and thus a niece, nephew, or cousin.  Maybe I can form a new category in Wikitree - Collateral descendants of Mayflower passengers.....

I am no expert on what people consider to be a Mayflower descendant either, but inituitively I would have expected it to require a direct line.
