Goldie L Lang, confused about birth place and parents

Question

Goldie L Lang was my great grandmother b. about 1893-1894 in either IA or KS. My grandfather's birth certificate lists her birthplace as Ottawa, Franklin Co., IA. However, his sister's birth certificate lists it simply as KS. I'm unable to find anything about her birth. She left my great grandfather (Floyd Barnes Hardin) when their daughter was only 9 months old. I can't find any documentation of their divorce, though I've seen on another person's Ancestry.com profile that they separated in Nov. 1914 while they were living in Buhl, Twin Falls, ID. She also shows that the divorce was granted 9 Sep 1915 in American Falls, Power County, Idaho. There is no documentation on this either. 

The other problem I'm having is finding her parents. The only hint I have about that is on the wedding certificate it shows her being 17 at the time of their marriage, and there is no listing of the mother, only that her father gave consent to the marriage but gives no name. There is an announcement in the Cook County Herald that says they were married at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Lang of Englewood in Chicago.

I'm completely stymied!

If this is her in 1940, then she moved back to Kansas. She's noted as "Divorced" in the Census.

This record is interesting too - appears to indicate that they married 1911, had a child (Oliver) in 1912, had a second child (Vivian) in 1914, then there was a New York Census from 1915 that is cited - could they have moved to New York by 1915?

Wow - very possibly they did move frequently. Floyd pops up in Chicago to be married in 1911, Oliver is born in Indiana in 1912. Vivian is born in Idaho in 1914. If they were in New York in 1915 (still checking) then he was in LA, California in 1917 for the WW I draft cards. Denver, Colorado in 1942 for the WW II draft cards. 

Yep - in 1920 in Los Angeles - there are Oliver and Vivian.

I've seen that record, but the parent's names don't match up. In 2 newpaper announcements of their wedding it lists her parents only as Mr. and Mrs. J. Lang of Englewood (a suburb of Chicago).

Rats - I'd need Ancestry to look at the record. Can't see it. There's an F A Hardin in New York City, born 1887, so it could be him. But I'd need more to look at the record to be sure.

Yes - the Pedigree Resource File also shows her parents as simply "J. Lang". Not very helpful on that front.

They did move quite frequently.  Floyd was a Methodist minister, who started preaching in Chicago, then they moved to ID to take over his father's ministry there. He himself was quite a character!

F. A Hardin is Floyd's grandfather, Franklin Allen.

Hmm... perhaps he was in town visiting in 1915 when NY did their Census. The record might be worth checking. They could have easily assumed that he was a Jr. since he was visiting. Might be a bit of a reach, but worth looking into. Even better if he took the kids with him, and they show up on the Census too...
