I am looking for information on a Benjamin William McCoy, born died in Indiana, 1810-1859 (not exact).

Question

He may have married Sarah Reno of New York.

He may have gone by William McCoy. I have been told he was the father of John McCoy who was born in 1830 in Logansport, Cass County, Indiana.

No other information available.

I have a William Benjamin McCoy, but the years don't quite match up. The previous generations of his were in Indiana.  I am curious if any of the things I have just input on McCoy may have linked up to yours? Maybe answered some questions?

Thank you, Brian. This is very helpful. My great-great-grandfather, John, was 30 and married by 1860, so it’s not unusual he wouldn’t have been listed in this census. This will get me started.

This and your previous answer seem to support what I have found to this point.  I find it interesting that in the 1840 census, William appeared to have 7 children under the age of 20. He and Sarah weren't married until 1839. Certainly not impossible. Now, I'm just trying to rule out whether he may have been married previous to his marriage to Sarah Reno. Thanks for your help!
