No, don't worry, you are not seeing double. The original chain was so popular that I've had to start a new one!!

The United Kingdom Project has numerous sub projects including:

(Scottish Clans Project with its own badge)

3. Wales

4. Ireland (For Irish Roots Project, with its own badge, see https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/580498/do-you-have-irish-ancestry-join-us-in-the-irish-roots-project-

5. Scots-Irish and Ulster Scots

6. We have categories covering British Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories plus Commonwealth Countries which do not have their own Projects.

Hi Sarah,  Wendy has already awarded you the UK Project badge and I've added you to the Scotland Project members interest page.   Welcome !
Hello, My name is Annetta Parrigan and I would like to join the Scottish Clans Project. I am a descendant Of Campbell Clan.
Hi Annetta and welcome to the Scottish Clans Project.

Looking to be added here, but also as a part of the CYMRU project team (which fits well with below, #1). My eligibility for the pre-1500 is pending, so if I have to wait for a badge, I suppose it is what it is :♦)

AncestryDNA Ethnicity (%) Estimates:

  1. Ireland/Scotland/Wales (28)
  2. Europe West (24)
  3. Great Britain (24)
  4. Scandinavia (19)

*Nearness to Her Majesty the Queen with analysis to date: 10th cousin, thrice removed. However, only about two ancestry lines of inquiry are essentially "complete." Nevertheless, the majority of profiles that I have done remain in my Ancestry.com (nonpublic) profile, as it appears that my GEDCOM image's deemed too large.

I am in the process of joining with the CYMRU project, ENGLAND as well as the EUROARISTO, this one seems like a reasonable addition. Thanks and I look forward to joining the team and receiving the badge.

Hi and welcome to the UK and Cymru Projects.

In my case, I would say that I have an interest in both the UK and British Isles. As soon as I get facile with analysis, I can get specific but from my vague recollection of inputting my profiles into Ancestry.com, I have ancestors from both. Both a blessing and a challenge.

Once I get past a roadblock with my mere 3rd great-grandfather who held the Fann surname, maybe an affinity will emerge.

One study of the origins of Fann* suggests the incidence of Fanns, in their glorious variations of spelling, in the following areas:

  • Essex
  • Hertfordshire
  • Surrey

and, to a lesser extent

  • Bedfordshire
  • Cambridgeshire
  • Suffolk
  • Middlesex
  • Kent, and
  • Sussex

In sum, I appear to have East Saxon origins iFöhn or Foehn of the Marshy Bog Leewards.

Sounds fair?

* The Historical Research Center, Inc.

Can I please join the Scottish Clans Project.

I'm an 11th cousin of Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Valerie
Hi Valerie,   the good news is that you are already a member of this project.
My interest is in Scottish Clans - in particular Clan Stewart.  DNA testing of my brother has confirmed direct paternal link to Sir John Stewart of Bonkyl
Hi Anna,  How wonderful !  Welcome to the Scottish Clans Project.

I am naturally interested in assisting with the England project. Being that substantial branch of my royal family extends into the reaches of Greater London, I am happy to volunteer.  Thank you.

Hello!

I am not sure which project or sub-project I would fit best with. My interest currently lies with tracing my Irish Quaker ancestors back into northern England where they (presumably) originated.
Open to suggestions!

I would like to join the Scottish Clans project.  My Montgomery family ancestors were on the Isle of Islay for at least 5 generations, is there any sub-group focused on Islay?
by Michael Montgomery G2G2 (2.1k points)
Hi Michael and welcome to the Scottish Clans Project.    Here's a link to our Clan Montgomery page.  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Clan_Montgomery  Would you like to sponsor this page and help develop it.    I'm more familiar with the Montgomerys  of Renfrewshire having lived and worked near Eaglesham for a few years.

I'm not aware of a one place study on Islay see https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:One_Place_Studies  for how to start one.

I would like to join the Ulster Scots subproject.  Please let me know how to do this.

Hi Abby,   Can I suggest that the Irish Roots Project might be more appropriate to your research.  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Irish_Roots  The Ulster Scots Project is concerned with the Plantation of Ulster in the 17th century.   I see you are still working on tracing your Irish ancestors in the 19th century.   Just a thought.
Thank you for your help, Maria.

Hi there, I have lots of irons in the fire in the UK but at this particular moment my focus is on Scotland - Rae and Yorkston in Larbert, Stirlingshire. I've just had to a do a little mini surname study to figure out how the Yorkstons (Yorkstone, Yorstoun(e), Yourstoun(e), Yorstan, Yorston) made their way from Edinburgh/Midlothian to Falkirk and then Larbert. Don't think there's a sub-project for these Lowlanders ;-)

Adding my own branches will keep me busy for a while but just wanted to let you know what I was up to.

So yes, I would be interested in joining the UK project, esp. the County of Kent. That is where all my ancestors came from on my father's side. We have taken the tree back to the early 1600s, possibly earlier. I lived in the UK for seven years, and have been to the area where my great grandparents were born and from where they emigrated to Canada ~ Doddington & Newnham area. I also wrote and printed a book on the history of our family, which will soon be available online. It covers a lot of the history from Kent. So how can I help, since I am not living in the UK at present? Hope to go back next year, God willing. Cheers,

Steve MAXTED

by Steve Maxted G2G3 (3.9k points)
Hi George and a warm welcome to the UK and England Projects.    The England Project leader or coordinator will be in touch shortly.
Hi, there are quite a few of us not living in the UK. With the internet, that isn't an impediment to being involved! We could manage another helper in Kent. So thank you ... that would be fabulous. I'll get that set up for you.
Didn't think it would be. But I do have a special entry card to the Canterbury Cathedral Archives, where many of the Kent County records are kept, so we have plenty of resource contacts over there. If I can't access the necessary info personally, I am in touch with folks who can. The history of Kent itself is fascinating!

I would like to join the Scottish Clans project please. My Scottish heritage includes Clan Donald of Argyle and Bute as well as some branches from Sleat. Leitch and Campbell are also a part of my Scottish heritage but not as strongly.

Thanks,
