No, don't worry, you are not seeing double. The original chain was so popular that I've had to start a new one!!

The United Kingdom Project has numerous sub projects including:

1. England Project: to join this project, and get your United Kingdom badge for this, please go to'  https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/564066/the-england-project-is-looking-for-you to  sign up.

2. Scotland, now including the new Declaration of Arbroath sub project    https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Declaration_of_Arbroath  plus

(Scottish Clans Project with its own badge)

3. Wales

4. Ireland (For Irish Roots Project, with its own badge, see https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/580498/do-you-have-irish-ancestry-join-us-in-the-irish-roots-project-

5. Scots-Irish and Ulster Scots

6. We have categories covering British Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories plus Commonwealth Countries which do not have their own Projects.

We also coordinate closely with the various European Aristocrats projects.

If you would like to join the project we would love to have you.  Please post an ANSWER below (except for England), let us know which part of the UK you are interested in and follow the instructions on the project page.   Thanks.

Hi Sarah,  Wendy has already awarded you the UK Project badge and I've added you to the Scotland Project members interest page.   Welcome !
Hello, My name is Annetta Parrigan and I would like to join the Scottish Clans Project. I am a descendant Of Campbell Clan.
Hi Annetta and welcome to the Scottish Clans Project.

Looking to be added here, but also as a part of the CYMRU project team (which fits well with below, #1). My eligibility for the pre-1500 is pending, so if I have to wait for a badge, I suppose it is what it is :♦)

AncestryDNA Ethnicity (%) Estimates:

  1. Ireland/Scotland/Wales (28)
  2. Europe West (24)
  3. Great Britain (24)
  4. Scandinavia (19)

*Nearness to Her Majesty the Queen with analysis to date: 10th cousin, thrice removed. However, only about two ancestry lines of inquiry are essentially "complete." Nevertheless, the majority of profiles that I have done remain in my Ancestry.com (nonpublic) profile, as it appears that my GEDCOM image's deemed too large.

I am in the process of joining with the CYMRU project, ENGLAND as well as the EUROARISTO, this one seems like a reasonable addition. Thanks and I look forward to joining the team and receiving the badge.

Hi and welcome to the UK and Cymru Projects.

In my case, I would say that I have an interest in both the UK and British Isles. As soon as I get facile with analysis, I can get specific but from my vague recollection of inputting my profiles into Ancestry.com, I have ancestors from both. Both a blessing and a challenge.

Once I get past a roadblock with my mere 3rd great-grandfather who held the Fann surname, maybe an affinity will emerge.

One study of the origins of Fann* suggests the incidence of Fanns, in their glorious variations of spelling, in the following areas:

  • Essex
  • Hertfordshire
  • Surrey

and, to a lesser extent

  • Bedfordshire
  • Cambridgeshire
  • Suffolk
  • Middlesex
  • Kent, and
  • Sussex

In sum, I appear to have East Saxon origins iFöhn or Foehn of the Marshy Bog Leewards.

Sounds fair?

* The Historical Research Center, Inc.

Can I please join the Scottish Clans Project.

I'm an 11th cousin of Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Valerie
Hi Valerie,   the good news is that you are already a member of this project.
My interest is in Scottish Clans - in particular Clan Stewart.  DNA testing of my brother has confirmed direct paternal link to Sir John Stewart of Bonkyl
Hi Anna,  How wonderful !  Welcome to the Scottish Clans Project.

I would love to support the United Kingdom, Scotland and Ireland projects.  I have 4th great grandparents who were Scotch/Irish who came to America in 1811 from Londonderry.  According to lots of my research I also have several royal family members from way back to the 1200's from Scotland.

Greetings!

I'm new to this and trying to trace my lineage from Kent/Wales to western NY to California!

Based on a tree in ancestory.com by MSage18 (see link below)

I found a reference in my family tree dating back to Jehan LeSage 21 Oct 1598 Strangers Church, Canterbury, Kent, England (1598-1649) whose son went to Mattabest Plantation, CT John Sage (?-1652)

https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/41975482/person/19936949442/facts

I also found a reference to Jehan LeSage (1588-1649)

BIRTH    21 Oct 1588 Canterbury, Kent, England

DEATH   1649  Wales

sources (1)

Family Info

Father   Pierre Desains LeSage (1565-)
Mother   Sara de St. Etienne de La Tour (1567-)
Spouse
Joan Bidden (1602-)
Married 1607
Children
  • John (1617-1652)     same guy different birthyears

Doubt that John was on the mayflower but certanly seems like an early settler.  I'm going to search the Mayflower manifest and lookup Mattabest Plantation for more information

Any direction from you expects is appreciated!!!

Thanks

Hi,

I want to help with the United Kingdom, Scotland, Scottish Clans, and Wales projects. My mother's side is primarily or entirely from the UK. In particular, I'm interested in my Scottish clan, the Macmillans, but I'd like to find information on any ancestor branches. I believe we have ancestors from all over the UK, but I don't have information about most of them.

Thanks!

I'm already a member of the UK Project and a member of the sub-group, Irish Roots.  I haven't been very involved but hope to have more time.  I exchanged emails and received some guidance on how to be involved but have deleted the email accidentally.  I'm also a member of Data Doctors.  How can I help, specifically?  Thanks!
by Susan DeFoe G2G6 Mach 3 (34.9k points)
Hi Susan,  thanks for your offer of help - very much appreciated.   There's general guidance on how to be actively involved on the main page of the Irish Roots Project.  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Irish_Roots  As you are a data doctor you may be interested in helping with the maintenance categories,  Unsourced etc    Don't know which County in Ireland is your main research area but you might consider setting up and managing a County Sub Project.   ( I should really start one on Fermanagh when I've some time !!)

Hi,

I don't need to join the project, but I have been doing a bit of work on some British soldiers Free Space page . You could check where they might fit. Although they were British soldiers it looks to me like the were not British born. The records I consulted were mostly colonial. It seems near impossible to get British records.

by Louis Heyman G2G6 Mach 9 (93.9k points)
Thanks Louis.   What an amazing piece of work.    I need to think about this one.   Have you spoken to the Miltary and War Project.  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Military_and_War

Hi thanks. It's just notes, nothing written yet.

About the military...

UK Project has not really come on board with the approved naming standards and insist all that is needed is the single category for a unit, i.e. not breakdown by individual conflicts. that really carries forward to all of the dominion countries as well.

what i am doing now is getting all the rest of the categories changed over to the approved standards, and then will circle back and work with the uk, anzac, anglo-boer war, etc projects and get them into compliance.

This message is from Keith McDonald

Hi and welcome to WikiTree.   The main focus for project members is to make their family and ancestor profiles as complete and well sourced as possible.   You'll find our goals and "How do I help" on the main UK Project page https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:United_Kingdom.

So that we can welcome you to the UK and Wales Projects I need you to sign our honour code.   See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Honor_Code  Come back to me once you have done this and I'll award you the Project Badge.
