How do I enter three siblings with the same name?

Question

I have a family who named three of their sons William. The first two died as babies. I have already added the one who lived but Wiki won't let me add the two who died because they have the same parents, even though the birth and death dates show they are not the same person - should I just leave them off as they didn't have any descendants (that seems a tad cruel).

What do you mean that wikitree won’t let you? What Message are you seeing?

I've added multiple children with the same name to parents before. Never had a problem.

Does it hard stop you from adding them, or is there a warning box that says the information is suspicious?

If it's a warning box, you can click whatever the button is that says "Okay, I understand that you think something's wrong, but I'm going ahead anyway."

I think WikiTree would only hard-stop you if you didn't provide any dates (birth or death).

Hi Jillaine, Thank you for your reply.  Ellen Smith discovered that it was because I hadn't added the parents first.  Working fine now.

Hi, Thank you for replying.  It was a hard stop but because I hadn't added the parents. I'll get the hang of doing it all in the correct order.  I was going to add all the data via a GED but decided if I do it person by person I can check all my data as I go but get a bit lost sometimes.

Apparently you are trying to add siblings for https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Rogers-19898

Trouble is that William doesn't have any parents yet. The add sibling link doesn't work in that situation. Create a profile for at least one of the parents, then add the other siblings as children of that parent.

It used to be that if you added a sibling, when there were no parent profiles, the system automatically added an Unknown Unknown father. Based on the fact that to be a sibling you must have a common parent.

Does this not happen now ??
