Shared Photo: Constantine Stavros Panagakos - WWI

Today is Veterans Day in the United States, and Armistice Day and Remembrance Day in other countries.  It marks the anniversary of the end of World War I. This is a WWI  photo of my Grandfather, Gus Panagakos. Location: unknown. Date: 1918.

Do you think his mustache looks odd? Grandpa wanted to see what he would look like if he had a mustache like his father's, so he drew one on this photo - in ink, on the original photo!  Grandpa immigrated to the U.S. from Greece and became a U.S. citizen because f his military service.

What a wonderful photograph! Thank you for sharing. Too bad he marked on the original. So did he like the moustache?

He told me he liked the look, but never wanted to grow and care for one.

He immigrated to the United States from Greece at the age of 18 and never saw his father (or the rest of his family) again.
