Trying to make a gift for my daughter-in-law (Middleton-3385) whose father (Middleton-3386) died when she was young and she has little idea of her heritage, so trying to get her family tree together for her. Thanks for any help. I've traced her back six generations to John W. Middleton born ~1837. Really appreciate any help - I'm hitting the wall now.

Searching for clues

1. Census records for MIDDLETON in New Jersey. Years 1800, 1810

Make a list of the names

2. Check for those names in 1830 and 1840 census in Pennsylvania

3. Extend a search for those names to Illinois in case whole family moved.

4. If you find a New Jersey man who appears in Pennsylvania census, look for him in the marriage records

Hi, I have a good long line of Middletons extending back in New Jersey (Trenton and Mercer area) during the 1700's and 1850's.  Perhaps we should exchange some information.
