Looking for DNA matches for Painter surname

I am having a hard time finding any DNA matches for my Maternal Grandfather; John (Jack) Painter, his father was Samuel G.C. Painter born in Ohio aprox 1884. I have traced his family back to a Peter Painter born in Virginia aprox 1819. Peter married Emmeline Brown in Ross County Ohio in 1832. My Painter line eventually made there way to Michigan. I have done my DNA through 23andme and I have also uploaded to GEDmatch kit number M739948, FTDNA kit number B238193. I have a lot of matches on GEDmatch but the majority of them are on my Paternal German line. I only had 4 matches on 23andme that have Painter listed as a surname and none of them have responded to my messages.   I am hoping someone on here might be able to help me solve this DNA mystery.

what company did you do your DNA through? Were you able to find any DNA matches that helped you trace your line?
I used Gene tree

they said they sold out to Ancestry, but they told me they did not.

anyone know of this Company. I would like to get my DNA straighten out.

Hi Ann,

Feel free to look at the DNA results on my profile. My Painter line originate from Wiltshire and Gloucestershire in England but branches did emigrate to USA and New Zealand where I reside.

Let me know if you find anything or need help.

Hi Murray,

Thank you for your response. We are not showing as a DNA match on  Gedmatch, My Grandfather use to say he was "English, Irish, Dutch and it doesn't amount to much" .  But he never elaborated about his Painter line. His father passed away when he was younger and his mother limited his contact with his remaining Uncles. I am thinking I might have to also test through Ancestry in hopes of finding any matches
Not sure if helpful but I have found some US Painters had ancestors from Germany and other parts of Europe as Bender and Pinder.

You might want to try the surnames of Bainter and Bender also since these seem to be interrelated.  May be a few others as well.
