Shared Photo: Amy McGhie Keay holding her son Alexander Norval Keay

+12 votes

I wanted to share this family photo of Alexander Norval Keay and his mother, Amy McGhie Keay with the community. Alexander was my grandfather and Amy my great-grandmother. Although the photo is weathered by time, it shows that Amy was a proud, beaming and loving mother.

Location: Everett Washington. Date: 1900.

As pretty as your G-Grandmother was in this picture, I am sorry but there is a cutie pie stealing the show in this picture :)

Lovely picture. My mum's cousin married a Keay. Have you done any work on the name? Susie :-)

I have done a great deal of work on the Keay name Susie! Do you want to compare lines? My  great grandfather, Alexander Keay came to the US from Scotland in the 1880's. He actually went to Vancouver B.C. first, then to Everett Washington. His brothers went all over the world, including Russia (one worked for the last czar) and Australia.
I'll have to check with my cousin on where in the UK his Keay's were originally from. It might be Scotland, but I know at least the first few generations were from England.

What a beautiful black and white picture you have shared with us. This could be a picture of a modern day mother and child.

I truly believe that the "weathering" of the picture only adds to the beauty.

Your g-grandmother is sporting a hair-style that I would love to wear today. The smile on her face shows a great deal of love for her Alexander.

And Alexander looks like he doesn't want to stay in his mother's arms, but would rather be on the floor playing.

Thank you for letting us take a peak into your g-grandmother's daily life.
