Hey.
For the first time I tried the GEDCOM export today. And I have a question.
As I'm lazy and doing my work now practically only on WikiTree (and stopped working parallel on my desktop on a genealogy software), I don't have a backup of my work on the desktop anymore.
So the GEDCOM export would be a comfortable way to always get a backup if I want to. Not only for "backup reasons", so that I also have my work on my PC. But also for another reason: I like to produce graphic "ancestor trees", so with all ancestors and "descendant trees", with all descendants - or descendants with the same name. This can be done with various genalogy software and again: the possibility of choosing to export a persons family tree or descendants here are perfect for this.
But: Some Information regarding partners is missing:
Choosing the ancestors of a person, you receive the information of their direct ancestors, all the information also of the multiple partners and the siblings of the direct ancestors. Good. But the information regarding the partners of the siblings is missing, except their birth- and deathdate. All other information of their profiles, such as the marriage itself (only stored for the sibling of the direct ancestor), sources, birth- and deathplace, etc. are missing)
The same problem applies if you choose "descendants". But here the problem exists for all partners. so the information of the direct descendants is there, and also their partners are exported - but again only their birth and deathdate, and nothing more.
Is there a reason this information is missing? As the person itself is exported, why not export all the info regarding this person? Could that be changed?
I hope, It's clear what I mean ;)
