Hi Patricia if you have a look at this website, Arthur's son with Charlotte Lush goes by the surname of Neilson. http://ww1sa.gravesecrets.net/ne.html

Checked the National Archives of Australia and their son (Cyril) gave his next of kin in 1916 as Rose TWINING. Its possible his Mum remarried, so his Dad Arthur may have died before 1916.

Hi again Patricia, just been reading through the WWI Dossier of Cyril Cameron Arthur Neilson aka Kaiser and it clearly states in a letter from his mother that  Cyril's father who is said to be Arthur Edward Kaiser ,died when he was 2 years old. Cyril was born in 1897 to Arthur and Rose so Arthur must have died in 1899 or 1900.
I have searched South Australian Genealogy & Heraldry Society, which I am a long time member of and have actually been following Cyril's mother who is my grandmother's sister.Charlotte Rose nee LUSH. She married Arthur Edward Kaiser in Sth. Australia, a painter. I have a written copy of their marriage from SAGHS and it states that his father was August Carl Kaiser. They married and were both living in Hindmarsh.

There are at least 2 reports in the Adelaide Law courts that they separated. I cannot lay my hands of the print out at the moment. I have not been able to find a death of Arthur Edward Kaiser YET.

Cyril was born in Oct 1897 in Adelaide S.A. His mother was named as Rose Charlotte Kaiser on his birth certificate. His father was the informant and still a painter.

In Sep 1904 Rose Kaiser re-married to William Neilson at Tarcoola in S.A. where they both resided. He was an engineer. Haven't been able to find much more about him except his father was Robert Neilson. William and Rose lived for a time at Petina S.A. where Cyril as a lad went to school. It was here that he signed up for WW1 and used his step-father's surname. He died in France 30 July 1918 not long before the war ended. Has no known grave. (This is the main reason I was trying to find out what happened to his natural father.)

In 1908

rose NEILSON re-married again to John Twining in the Office of the Registrar General in Victoria Square Adelaide.  They had a son (step-brother to Cyril) Frederick TWINING born in June 1908. This was another marriage that ended in separation in 1911.

Hi Patricia,

There seems to be more than one Arthur  Kaiser . SA BDM provides 2 marriages. If this is to the same Arthur , you might need to buy their marriage certificates. In Trove there are Arthurs who are painter, a fruiter and grocerer. An advertisement is in the paper saying that Arthur Edward Kaiser is not the son of Carl August Kaiser.

I was unable to locate his death as I was not sure of his parents, that is where the marriage certificate will be of value. If he is the black sheep there is a gaol photo together with his aliases.

Best of luck

I have looked at the Trove dates that you suggested. Arthur Edward KAISER married  Aug 1897 to Charlotte Rose LUSH (my grandmother's sister). Marriage certificate viewed by myself at South Australian Genealogy and Heraldry Society at Unley S.A. I am a member there and have been for over 15 years. He was 32 and a painter. His father was named as August Carl KAISER. The marriage was celebrated in Hindmarsh. S.A.

In December 1901 He was in Court regarding separation charged with cruelty to wife and child and neglecting to pay maintenance.

The gardener seeking a divorce could have been him as I have not been able to find a death certificate for him in all of my searches YET.

In 1904 Rose married a William NEILSON at Tarcoola in S.A.

and.. in 1908 she married a John TWINING in Adelaide. S.A.
That is great that you have the information from the marriage certificate.  Whilst researching, I could see there was one naughty Arthur, who left his wife and child i.e.Charlotte. I would hazard a guess he was the Arthur named as co-respondent in the Allen's adultery case (Gardener seeking divorce) because the time line  if this is the same Arthur than he lived with her in Melbourne and Sydney. No wonder the other Arthur placed an advertisement in the paper saying he was not related to August Carl. Have you seen the goal photo of Arthur?
I found 2 articles one in The Express and Telegraph Mon 5th Feb 1900 page 2 - Law Courts which was repeated in Advertiser Adelaide Tue 6 Feb 1900 Pg , Also in Evening Journal Mon 5 Feb 1900 Pg 2 and South Australian Register Tue 6 Feb 1900 Pg 2.

The other article was In The Advertiser Adelaide Mon 23 Dec 1901 Page 3 - POLICE COURT. I

I shall follow up on what happened to him after the case was adjourned till the following Monday. I am not too sure about the gardener being the same person as I think I read an article in NSW papers where the timing didn't quite fit.

I also have to follow up on August Carl Christian KAISER who was Arthur Edward's father as there are others names under August KAISER, August Christie KAISER and August Martin KAISER.  I certainly put the cat among the pigeons.

P.S. Haven' seen picture that you spoke of.  Regards Pat.

I found the photo again but this fella is not your man , after further inspection he was relatively new to Australia
