Married/current name

Would I be right in suspecting that in the early days of wikitree the marrital name was not brought over from gedcoms and the birth/ maiden name was used instead?

If that is so, has automatic rectification been done?

As a matter of opinion I rather like the Mary (Smith) Jones Amercican format, but I think it is not the general practice amongst genaealogists.

Hi Sir William,

Right from the start, we made every effort to make sure that no information was lost during a GEDCOM import. Married name is a field that isn't used consistently in exports, though, so that probably has changed over time.

Hi Sir William,

I don't think it is automatic.  I have to type in a new Current Last Name manually. I use her name at death (the name on her gravestone) as her Current Last Name.

If she was married more than once, I put those surnames in Other Last Names.

Fair enough. But it is not the way this program works.
