Is it permissible to post an unconfirmed ancestor based on DNA testing to encourage DNA matching?

I believe that [[Beard-539 | Julius Beard]] is not the son of [[Beard-538 | Jacob Waitsell Beard]] due to the results of my own DNA testing. I am confident of my lineage up to Julius, who was born out of wedlock. My DNA confirms a common male ancestor with a Catawba County Witherspoon. Is it permissible for me to post an unconfirmed link to the person I believe is Julius's father in order to contact a Witherspoon descendant to compare DNA? Thank you.

Have you written to any other profile managers involved and discussed your concerns? It's not appropriate to make changes on WikiTree just because your DNA test doesn't support what has already been entered. It would be okay to add comments to the appropriate profiles explaining what you're thinking, and ask for suggestions/comments from others. You might want to check the Wiki IDs you've entered in your question. Julius Beard is Beard-537, not Beard-539. That seems to be adding confusion to your question. Also, it would be okay to contact a Witherspoon descendant about comparing DNA even if you haven't changed the information on WikiTree. The general procedure for using DNA on WikiTree is that we use it to confirm paper trails, not to create paper trails based only on DNA evidence.

However Researchers no matter how experienced they are need to realize

that the reason people do DNA Testing to Begin with is to Prove or Disprove a Paper Trail and or to Complement a Paper Trail and some times a Paper Trail does not exist due to errors in original sources or a Non Paternal Event has Happened and is more commonly revealed with DNA Testing than People Think, DNA does not care about Peoples Feelings when it comes to the Paper Trail they Love so Much. So it can be difficult to convince people of the Truth on a world Tree and i agree that Suggestions in the Comment boxes may be best at first
