Finding Your Roots - Is there a category for this TV Show?

I have just finished watching the Finding Your Roots episodes that has Ted Danson and his wife Mary Steenburgen as guests.

I know that the UK and USA shows WDYTYA are both categories here on wikitree.

Is there a category for Finding Your Roots?

I ask because the FYR episode had a direct link from Ted Danson (Danson-14) to the Puritan outspoken woman, Anne Hutchinson (Marbury-2)

When I did a geneaological finder check between Anne and Ted, I got a 6th cousin 12 times removed. He is supposed to be a direct descendant.

So I checked the tree on FYR and made notes of the direct line descent between Ted and Anne and then followed that same line here on wikitree.

It was broken at the 3x great grandmother.

The descent down from Anne Hutchinson is broken after the 3x great grandchildren. There are 2 missing generations.  Both of those generations are already on Wikitree, but not connected.

One mentioned the FYR episode, and the other one mentions the DAR file because that person married a man who fought during the revolutonary war.

Neither of these 2 profiles have the absent children or parents named. Do I still have to add sources in order to link these profiles to where they need to go?

I want to give Ted a direct descent as per the FYR TV episode!!

And a category link as well.

 Thanks.

I found the right categories!!

Still no category for FYR - can someone make one?

I’m glad to see a dedicated category for FYR. I’ve watched most of the Six Seasons Episodes. They’re available at my local southern Wisconsin library system. I’m finding I’m related to over half of Gates’ guests. It would take a team of dedicated WT’er genealogists a great deal of commitment. Unfortunately, something I have only intermittent time for presently.

hello Robynne,

Yes, you still need to add sources to the ones you create, and I'm sure you know that, whether you meant to ask if you should add different sources than what you are mentioning here, well, the more sources the better.  These TV shows are not accessible everywhere for one, so anybody trying to look them up might hit a media wall.  And who knows how long they will be available through net archives.  wink

Thank you so much Scott!!!!
I added a table to the FYR category page with all the guests on the show. Many are already on WikiTree and are Notables and/or protected from edits.
Wow, how long did that table take to make? Very impressive!!  Thanks for doing that!!
I'm pretty handy with Excel. Once I got the program information off of Wikipedia, I made formulas in another column that created the strings that make the table in WikiTree.

BTW, out of 110 guests, I have categorized all but 24.
