My source - Lorenz Meyer, Oscar Tesdorpf. Hamburgische Wappen und Genealogien. Hamburg: Im Selbstverlag des Verfassers, 1890, lists him as "Kaufmann in America" around 1890. Born 30 Jul 1819, maybe in Hamburg, Germany. His father - Johann Georg Leopold Heise (1779-1860) and his mother Sophie Luise Wilhelmine Ebert (1793-1874). Both parents died in Hamburg. His sister, Wilhelmine Constanze Keitel (Heise) (1822-1908) travelled to New York in 1885 but returned to Germany and died in Hamburg. A long shot - he may have had medical qualifications? Any hints appreciated.
