Note, if that's the right John Bingham, which it probably is, he was born in 1842 (+/- 1yr) according to https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N7VG-GZT and not 1831

He also got the wrong generation.

Damn, how lucky is this anonymous user.  I've been using this example to practice following families around the world, quite entertaining and very frustrating at times.

Managed to navigate my way through NY during the 1840's & 1850's where there are little or no free records available and learnt quite a few tricks & tips on the way.  That was at the height of the Irish (& little known Scottish Highland potato famine), 1000's of Binghams in NY then.

It is also remarkable the number of errors on the familysearch.org website, wrong sex, age, married status & dates (e.g. the marriage below should read 1840).

Anyway, these are the two headline links, they've even got free photos available.  I've got lots of other info too.

ps. His folks are from Ireland.
I am also a descendent from JHB and Anna Ehret. Why do you believe the parents were from Ireland? He lists Scotland or New York on various census forms. Thx Scott
