Help! I gave out four down votes today and it wasn't my intention!

Question

I just looked at my G2G profile and it shows that I gave out four down votes today. That was never my intention, my fat fingers must be to blame. How do I reverse this??

I did the same when I started took 5 days to find them again I don’t Think any wikkitreer deserve down vote I was happy when I found them but hard work

I feel your pain. My one recorded "Down" vote was unintentional. I never did figure out where it was.

If you look at a question or answer where you applied a downvote, I believe you should see a highlighted down arrow next to the question or answer that you downvoted. If you see that, click on the down arrow, and the negative vote should toggle off.

So if you know that you did this today, you can look through the questions you remember looking at today, and maybe you'll find your downvotes. Good luck!

My one download was an accident also, trying to upvote on my phone. As soon as I realized I changed it to an upvote, but it stayed on my profile. I still cringe when I see it lol

I don't think an upvote cancels a downvote, but you can cancel it by toggling it off.

 I've accidentally made some unintended votes, then immediately reversed them by toggling the button I hit by mistake.

Someone has been giving me down votes and I don't know what I did wrong. I think people give them out and don't know it.

Yes, I too discovered that at some point in the past I accidentally gave out two down votes. It is far too easy to do on my tablet (or phone). I wish it wasn't an option.

I agree that down votes seem to serve little purpose on this site, and should be discontinued. In the very rare cases someone misbehaves, there are other options, like replying or flagging.

It would also be nice to be able to see who gave out votes on a certain questions or answer.

The down votes might not be on questions where Bart posted a comment or an answer. It's possible that his finger or cursor rested too long on the down button while he was reading...

Thanks Ellen. I never intentionally give down votes. But today with granddaughters in tow I was using my smartphone to vote. The phone might be smart but my fat fingers are not. My apologies to everyone I accidentally zapped.

I have the same problem with my tiny iPhone 6se. You can correct them which I do but I hate it that it happens.
