The 'tree' is attractive and looks very fresh, the message is clear and to the point - all looks inviting and straightforward to navigate.

I agree with the others. Simple and looks good.

My only quibble really relates to the idea of WT "making genealogy free". The site may be free but we shouldn't be encouraging people to take the sources offered at face value without checking and that may cost.

The actual wording of the link guaranteeing to keep WT free isn't quite the same.

Hi Martin,

This is our mission statement:

Our mission is to grow a single worldwide family tree that will make genealogy free and accessible for everyone.

I understand your point about not taking sources at face value. But I think there's a difference between genealogists and our family members. Our family members won't check sources.

My dream is to see the family tree on WikiTree become as reliable as the encyclopedia at Wikipedia.

Chris

Yes, I'm happy with the dream. But it will only come about if the guesswork is flagged as such. Most connections for ordinary people before 1600 (and often much later) are based on no more than probability or even possibility. I believe the point at which any link becomes that should be made clear.

I like it, it is much more professional looking than the previous home page.  One thing I think is missing and would like to see is a comment about how wikitree is different to other trees.  To me, collaboration was very important but I also love what you are trying to do with dna.  It's great.  Couldn't you have a dot point about bringing the two worlds together, so it appeals to both traditional genealogists and those interested in genetic genealogy?  No other site facilitates comparisons of dna tests and genealogies like wikitree.

I also think the addition of profile and photo of the week is excellent too, as it changes each week it will keep the user engaged with the site.

Thank you, Veronica!

I've also thought about including a clause or sentence about DNA. Maybe something about blending or reconciling records, family stories, and DNA testing to make one whole. Thoughts?
