Unknown-Unknown again

There are 26 Unknown Unknown profiles for Leonardo Alfonso all entered 12 May 2010 as Private.  Seems to me it was unsuccessful attempts at erasing data.  Can someone do something about it.  If these profiles were deleted, we would be left with a more manageable list of unknown to work with.

Thank you for your response, but it made me realise that my question was not clear;  it really is "how can we  merge 26 identical profiles and who has the authority or knowledge to do it" ?

If I am lucky,  Alfonso-5 will confirm that these 26 profiles should be deleted.

In wikitree, profiles are not "deleted," they are "merged away."  Old profile ID's, as I understand it, get redirected to the correct ID of the person concerned.  In this case, the merge will be to Leonardo Alfronso, who is the active PM for Leonardo Alfonso.
You could try mailing admin@wikitree.com with it, they may be able to do something.
Or they can be recycled as we often need an Unknown profile when we don’t know someone’s name. There’s a Recycle Unknowns category for these.

Thank you for your comment.

Leonardo Alfonso is the PM of 26 Unknown-Unknown profiles all created 12 May 2010 and modified 13 May 2010; it seems obvious to me that these unknowns are the result of corrections or deletions by the new PM;  I have forwarded a private message to him asking for clarification - no response.

Merging is OK but not obvious for a newcomer (I know from experience); of course, there are instructions but there are so many of them just finding the proper one  is an arduous task for a rookie.

I personally do not like the idea of recycling unknowns; if we don't know someone's name, we can't go back in time further until we do - so what is the purpose ?

The use of Unknown-12345 (etc.) is frequently used when we do not know the surname of a given person. We know they existed, they may have been someone's spouse or parent of a set of children. It is often used for women when we do not know their maiden name. Or if a surname is in dispute. It's rare that we use Unknown for both a given name and a surname, but it does periodically happen.

Having a profile for such a person enables us to keep a family intact while communicating that further research is needed to identify or confirm their last name at birth (or even their given name).

We only recycle existing Unknowns when they are wholly orphaned and disconnected/detached.

This particular "family" that you've found is an exception. Something very weird happened here. But depending on what is decided, they could each be detached from each other and recycled for those cases when an Unknown is needed elsewhere.

Update !

December 3rd, Leonardo Alfonso had 26 Unknown-Unknown; 4 hours ago I wrote that This PM did not respond to my communication but I may have been wrong; after checking the Unknown-Unknown once again, there are only 8 Unknown-Unknown left for this PM.  Has he been discreetly working on the problem ? has someone else done some cleaning up ? anyway - thank you and keep up the good work !
There are still 27 UNKNOWN UNKNOWN on is watchlist.

I have made a request to open all 1431 RED private profiles from this inactive member.  We should get access to the ones that can be open in a few days as usual in such cases.

Can't see them anymore - how is that possible ?
