Will Wikitree ever have a drop down to choose City, County, and State when entering a new profile?

I notice the drop down option when I need to edit a profile birth and death location, but not when I enter a profile. This would be a very nice feature.

That would be an awesome feature! When I create new profiles now I add it immediately after the initial creation, so that I can get the drop down menu to ensure that I have proper spellings etc. Would also love to see it in the Marriage Location field.

I hope not. Most of my place names aren't in any of the regular drop-down lists, even the one from FamilySearch. If it's there I want to be able to turn it off completely.

The first thing I do when I open WikiTree is always to hide the place name suggestions. It doesn't remember my preference when the browser has been closed.

The suggestions for places in Sweden are just not good enough. I particularly dislike it when the parish name is omitted, as often is the case - you get the village name, the county and Sweden.

How do you do that, Eva?
Yes, how do you do that? I've never successfully managed it.

I would like to see one on the marriage section myself. Drop downs for birth and death locations are great, counties would definitely enhance it. Consider also that errors continue in the marriage part which you have to click on another link to edit it.

Thanks Debbie for this suggestion!

This would be so awesome :) I usually save mine then go back just to make sure its right, so this would save me time.

Though it would be great, wikitree must also take into account how other countires are diivided.  In Canada, it would be City, County, and Province.

Obviously, in the old days, more people lived in towns and townships than in cities per se.  In the colonies, both county and colony boundaries changed over time.  As the US developed, county and state boundaries changed.  It  would be an enormous task to have drop down boxes for all times since 0 A.D. and for all places.  Poland ceased to exist at least three times in its history and what is now Poland may not have been Poland in the 14th Century.

It would be awesome, but it would take a lot of work to make it work properly for all wikitreers.

I second that, In the netherlands it would be  town, gemeente (=municipality), provincie, country
