Is there an easier way to find a specific surname in the messagebase?

When checking the message base in the Surname category for Surnames that I follow and may be able to help with, I find that the listing by "number of posts" rather than alphabetically by name is a deterrent.  Is there a way to search for surnames, or a way to resort them?  If not, is it possible to consider this change in a future update?

Thanks for wanting to help with questions in surnames. That's certainly something we want to encourage and make easier.

 

We're trying to develop better systems, but in the meantime, in addition to what Lianne mentioned about going directly to the surname G2G page, here are two other possibilities:

 

* Keep an eye on the main surname index on WikiTree, e.g. http://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Ferguson

Recent G2G activity is included there.

 

* Use an RSS newsreader. There is a feed for every surname, e.g. http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/feed/tag/ferguson.rss

If you know which name you want to see questions for, you can go there directly using the url: http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/tag/lastname where "lastname" is the surname you're looking for.
