I am trying to confirm that Benjamin Higgins b. 1749 was the son of Philip Higgins and Mary (Wiley) Higgins.

I am looking for confirmation that Benjamin Higgins b 1749 in Eastham, MA, is the son of Philip Higgins b 1729 in Eastham, MA and Mary (Wiley) Higgins b abt 1728 in Eastham, MA. Benjamin married Sarah Mathews and had a son, Charles Mathews Higgins b 1780 in Bath ME.

This is the profile of Mary (Wiley) Higgins. At present there are just two children listed and Benjamin is not one of them so more work would be needed to investigate your theory.

I did read her profile and I've searched numerous databases for evidence of other children. Several do appear and Benjamin is one.

There seems to be controversy regarding which Benjamin Higgins is her son. Philip's will mentions Benjamin (b 1749?) in it and it names him first.  All other children follow in chronological order and dates would seem to match.

I need a birth or marriage record for Benjamin b1749.

In 'The First Five Generations of Stephen Hopkins", the research ends at Philip and Mary. It does state Benjamin as a son.

I am also curious as to why, when the family moved to Maine.
