Hakkert/Hackerd orphans

Hi all,

I'm trying to connect some old profiles from the Conley - Dye,_2010-11-16.ged import. They are orphaned profiles concerning Dutch people that emigrated to USA in 1880s. This Nicolas Hackert cannot be found in Dutch archives, but census records show he is from The Netherlands. Also the RootSearch results show these entries:

"Iowa, Death Records, 1921-1940," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q248-7SBW : 8 November 2017), Klaas Hendrik Hackert, 20 Apr 1922, Iowa, United States; citing certificate #63256, State Historical Society of Iowa, Des Moines; FamilySearch digital folder 101784572.

"Find A Grave Index," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QK12-9RC7 : 15 December 2015), Klaas Hendrick Hackert, 1922; Burial, Harvey, Marion, Iowa, United States of America, Porter Grove Cemetery; citing record ID 144719955, Find a Grave, http://www.findagrave.com.

The name of the father translates to Leendert Hakkert, he married in 1830 Daantje van der Burg (see Gelders Archief) and the had 6 children between 1830 and 1839 (see GenealogieOnline). He did not remarry and I cannot find more children. Anyone more luck? Maybe a connection in Pella, Iowa?

The FAG record of his spouse Cornelia Hackert says:

Cornelia Hakkert married Klaas De Fockert March 15 1867 Herwijnen, Gelderland, Netherlands

I think that is the key:

Klaas Hendrik de Fockert born 20-12-1841 in Herwijnen

Klaas Hendrik de Fockert married Kornelia Hakkert 15-03-1867 in Herwijnen

This census data can be compared with the Dutch archives records for this couple:

"Iowa State Census, 1885," database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:HDD4-3W2 : 3 April 2016), Klaas M Fockert, Pella, Lake Prairie, Marion, Iowa; citing p. 7, 1885, State Historical Society, Des Moines; FHL microfilm 1,021,496.

Thanks Jan!

I think the name de Fockert was frowned upon in the US and they chose the surname of his wife. So now I can try to connect them both.
Graag gedaan, B!

Ik denk dat je gelijk hebt met die naamswijziging, hoewel die kennelijk selectief was want in bovengenoemde census was het weer gewoon de Nederlandse.

I'm not sure what you are looking for - but it looks like Nicholas had a child Leendert

Thanks! I'm hoping to get these profiles connected to the WikiTree. Normally I work with Dutch archives so was looking for his parents. If you can connect him with US sources I'm equally happy :)
Very good! Thank you for the input :D
