Adding DNA tests without displaying or having the profiles for the testers

I am the profile manager for all the wikitree profiles I want to link together for yDNA purposes. They are all displayed publically on the www.perry-dna.org website. Can  I add their DNA test data for the nearest non-living ancestor?  I am sending email requests to the respecitve yDNA testers to obtain their permission to include their test results on the relevant wikitree profiles. Some of the yDNA tester/donors are deceased, but not all.

Hi Norman,

Excellent question. Check out http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/DNA#Entering_a_Test_for_Someone_Else and I'll ask Kitty if she has any more input to add here.

Yes, you would follow the instructions for adding information as a DNA project administrator. The only thing I have done different, is I name the actual test participant "Anonymous DNA" surname and non-tested living relatives as "Anonymous". This is just to indicate which individuals were actual test participants.

It would be nice to be able to enter the DNA kit number (Anonymous DNA 132324), but I don't think you can enter numbers in the name field.

You stated "It would be nice to be able to enter the DNA kit number...

Wikitree needs to have a special data field for DNA test kit numbers, along with birth dates, death dates, etc., on the profile page.

Hi Norman!  We are so glad you have joined us!  Can I add you to our DNA Project?

I don't think the Wikitree programmers will want to create a separate DNA Kit number field because of the programming structure changes needed, and because I don't think there is a similar GedCom field for DNA Kit numbers.  In fact, I am not sure if all the DNA testing companies use Kit numbers.

I would like the kit number in the name field so that I could search for 132324 Smith and find the exact profile I am searching for. A separate Kit number field would not be searchable in a name search.

Welcome again!

For clarity: We do have a DNA kit number field. It's just not on the person's edit page, it's on their DNA test edit page.
