my modern oracle admix results are 1. Neolithic 33.92 %...2. WHG 33.30 %.  .3. EHG 24.28 %....4. Basal 3.43 %....5.  Iran-Mesolithic 3.26 %... 6. ASI 1 .68% and 7. African 0.06 %......what does this even mean? I don't understand gedmatch admixture results at all

I don't really get it either, but this post has a list of the usual abbreviations in the admixture results (scroll down to Step 3): https://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?207332-A-Gedmatch-Admixture-Guide!

You must have selected one of the more ancient admixture tools.  Those numbers are from the very early populations, the great migrations, many many thousands of years ago, when there were Neolithic farmers, Western Hunter Gatherers, Eastern Hunter Gatherers, etc.

What you probably want is the Eurogenes project.  After selecting it, on a later dropdown, select K13 or K15.  That will provide fairly good admixture results from countries and populations of the last thousand years.

Hi, Patricia. That particular admixture project calculator is looking at ancient--as in anthropological timeframes--haplotype elements. For example, "Neolithic" is just that: traces from the Neolithic period. "EHG" is Eastern Hunter-Gatherer"; "WHG" is Western Hunter-Gatherer, and so on.

Unless you're interested in those pre-historic mixtures, try experimenting with the other available admixture calculators. For example, the Eurogenes options may give you a better, more current snapshot unless you have significant East Asian components. The K36 option will try to break down the results to a pretty granular level.

However, as is frequently--and rightly--cautioned, take all admixture predictions with a grain of salt. They all depend on haplotypes derived by genotyping populations believed to be intrinsically representative of a particular admixture. They're only as accurate as the sample size and the locative accuracy of the samples reported.
