How do I adopt the profile of one of my ancestors? Has no profile manager but not listed as an orphan.

Am I not allowed to adopt because I'm still new? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

Did you get an error message when you clicked on Adopt this profile?

"Adopt this profile" doesn't even appear as an option, unless I am looking in the wrong place (quite possible)! It just says "No profile manager."

It should be just to the right of No Profile Manager. Are you not seeing it at all?

No. It's very odd. I managed to adopt through the link Doug posted, but if I look at the list of orphan profiles, the profiles themselves are not showing the option to adopt. I adopted a couple through the list itself, so... strange!!

When I look at the page, adoption is not an option: you all are seeing it and I am not. However, I clicked on the link as you pasted it above and it worked, allowing me to adopt the page. I wish I knew why I wasn't given the option in the first place, though! I took a screenshot but can't share it here unless I upload it somewhere, oh well.

I just looked at that profile. I don't know for sure, but I doubt you would be prevented from adopting the profile, even if you're new, as long as you've been accepted as a volunteer.

On the page for Marie (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Miville-169  

next to where it says "No profile Manager" which is right after the part about when she died, do you see "Adopt this Profile"?

If you see that, then you should be able to click on it and adopt it.  

Otherwise, maybe there is something else going on.

Thanks for your reply. It does not give me an option to adopt, there is nothing next to No Profile Manager. So you're seeing something I am not. :) I've been here less than two weeks, but have been accepted as a volunteer... not sure if there is a waiting period for certain privileges?

Did you ever get this resolved, because I am having the exact same issue with one of my ancestor?  There is no profile manager and no option to "adopt this profile".  Thanks for any help.

I found a workaround, and then the issue resolved itself. I never did find out why I was unable to adopt the profile.

The workaround was that I went to the dropdown menu under my user ID and chose "Orphaned Family" -- I was able to find Marie from there, select her and adopt her. She then showed up as a profile I managed, so it worked. There are probably other workarounds if you can access other lists of orphaned profiles and find the profile you want to adopt on it. Sorry I don't have a more straightforward answer.

You should be able to adopt the profile. Click on the 'adopt profile' tag
