I have trees; Ancestry& Family Search. Many generations. I am unaware of how to transfer GEDcom data.

You might want to consider adding some profiles manually first so you get used to Wikitree policy and style. Also, I would suggest that if you decide to upload a gedcom that you start with a very small portion of your tree so that you can learn the gedcompare process without being stressed by the volume of profiles to handle.

I've done it, and I think doing it manually is just as fast and results in a much better profile. When you transfer it automatically, there's so much clean up involved that it's not worth the effort.
