Biography Builders Dec/Jan 2017. Given Name "C"

Question

Because Christmas and Chanukah both start with the letter "C", this Month Dec. 15 through Jan. 15: The theme is "given name C".

That's first names that begin with "C" for instance Caroline, Caleb, Chris.

Biography Builders Goal: To make profiles as complete as possible with well-written biographies and sources. You should research as much as you can find on a person, writing the information onto the profiles to create as complete a life story as you can for that person. Sourcing should be full citations. This includes adding categories and links to events and people connected to that profile and citing all those additions. See the first month for examples of how to participate.

Here's our checklist:

Data Section.

• birth date/place
• names of parents
• marriage date/place and spouse name
• death date/place

Biography Section:

• Written (full) sentences stating the facts above, adding inline sources to each fact.
• Is the profile '''Genealogically Defined?'''
• As a general rule biographies should be in your own words. Paraphrase and rewrite, don't copy/paste.
• Baptism, burial, military, and other life events with inline sources.
• Something to "humanize" the person, such as career or avocation with sources.
• List of children with at least one pertinent fact.
• One of the suggestions was siblings. I think this takes up real estate.
• Explanatory remarks, if needed (e.g. disputed persons information, Research Notes, whatever needs extra explaining).
• Photos or pictures, background. Not a must, but nice (you need to own the copyright unless they are in the public domain).
• Categories/Projects.
• Connection to the Global Tree.
• All duplicates merged or initiated.
• Links to persons and events, perhaps from Wikipedia.
• Historical context as related to the person's life.
• Sources, Sources, Sources.

Does that mean I have to go back through all my profiles and change from the old template to the new format? Or is there a bot doing that?

I can't figure out the purpose of the "What links here feature?" It just looks like one long list of profile names that are not alphabetical.

I've never looked at the list myself. But I suppose it's so people can see what profiles are using a page, but if it's not even alphabetical it doesn't help much.

Thanks Anne, I need these challenges to keep me motivated. I have been on wikitree for a year next month and have put on over 3000 profiles in the hope of preserving years of work and making it available for others. A lot of them still need more sources and tidying up. Trouble is, almost every time I do a biography I add more people.

Thanks Patricia, I was looking at Christine's profile. Some of the expressions on the faces in the family photo are priceless. It was pretty common for folks to try to look serious, but the disgruntled (can I be somewhere else look?) made me laugh. I've seen it on my brothers in photos.

Payne-9695 Coventry Payne - a debatable Baronet - lots of interesting newspaper reports detailing his lineage and the reason to the questionable title of Baronet - I would like to expand on this family at some point in time as I only added the most relevant newspaper reports  referring to genealogical facts, and there is so much more to add.

Unfortunately I didn't get as many done as I intended, but have been busy helping a new wiki-tree cousin get up to speed and connect to me.

Since Caroline died as recently as 1949, the cemetery probably has a record of her burial. Getting hold of someone might be difficult if the cemetery is small. Or if the church is still located there it would be worth checking church records.

That is a super profile about Cornelius Merry. I never even think about there being Irish in New England that early.

Note in the following excerpt: It is unclear what word you meant to use between 1673 ___ 1675.

I don't think I've ever done this challenge before! I'll give it a whirl.

1. I'm gonna work on the bio of Catherine (Warren) Bellamy, my great-great-great uncle's wife's mother. (Hence why she got sources but no work beyond that. I even wrote a to do note on the profile 5 years ago and probably haven't looked at this profile since!) -- Done as much as I can with the sources I've been able to find!
2. Camille Daigneault, my great great great uncle -- Done but again with not a tonne of sources!

It's interesting how sometimes you can find tons of items (maybe too many) about a person and other people hardly a drop in the bucket. Those two look "done" as they can be for the moment.
