Do you have ideas for a "Greetings from WikiTree" postcard?

I'm envisioning a vintage-style postcard in the vein of those old "Visit X" or "Greetings from Y" travel postcards, like these:

It would say "Visit WikiTree" or "Greetings from WikiTree".

I'm thinking of having some actual postcards printed up to bring to RootsTech. We need something to hand out at the booth.

It would also be something we'd use for e-cards, like this.

What do you think?

Any ideas for what images would go in the background and inside the "WIKITREE" block letters?

We could use photos from the Photo of the Week archives, but they will be black and white. It's more in the style of the travel cards to be color. I don't know what we could use that would be color. (And wouldn't require a lot of work from a graphic designer.) Ideas?

Hi,

What about using some of the WikiTree T-shirt designs as images?

Update: This is now an e-card:

I would check out Flick.com's Commons.  They have lots of photos with "No known copyright restrictions". The Library of Congress collection also has a lot of color photos.  I especially like their 1930s-40s in Color and Gardening in Color and Photochrom Travel Views.

Thanks, Valerie. Do you want to help pick out images you think would be appropriate?
Sure - how many different images are you looking for and what type of images?  A mix of people and places?  Do you want me to add links here or message them to you?
Cool!

I'm really not sure what we're looking for. Ideally, they would match the vintage travel postcard style in the links above. That is, they would be color illustrations of the "attractions" to see. What's the closest equivalent for WikiTree? Got me.

You could post links to any images you like here. That way others could see them and add to them. Thanks!

Here's a variety:

Valerie (and Chris):

Those are some great pictures to use for "period" postcards for WikiTree Travel events.  After all, genealogy and history are handmaidens to each other.

I'm especially drawn to the 1930s-40s in Color collection as it is recent enough and yet not at all boring for the younger sets of eyes.  Of course, fitting images into the outlines of a WikiTree logo is another matter.

Good luck!  This seems a really good idea for promoting the site(s).

Great work, Valerie.  Thanks!

Keith

Thanks, Valerie, Keith, and Eowyn.

Hey, any ideas for a "Land of ..." or "The ... State" line that would work?

Pretty much every state has a site somewhere with completely free photos.

The one below is of the old train station in Missoula, Montana.  The photograph that I grabbed is a very modern color shot.  This is what it looks like aged and there is no restriction on its use.

From Big Sky Country - Montana

Keith

For the tag line, maybe something like "Where Collaboration Happens" or "Where Cousins Connect"

Thanks again for everyone's input. Here is the end result ...
