Updating old profiles with new sources.

+7 votes
When I joined Wiki I brought in several trees from my FTM package. Since that time a large number of those profiles have been updated or expanded with new sources being added.

How do I get this info into Wiki without manually entering it all.

Can I bring in a Gedcom consisting of the altered files and somehow transfer the new data when the files are "Matched"?

Can I use the WikiTree-X to import the data, and if so, where can I find a "Simple" step by step explanation of how to accomplish this feat? Bearing in mind that I am basically computer illiterate.

The new Gedcom Compare function might help.

As the name says.... GEDCOMpare .... compares the profiles from the Gedcom with the one on Wikitree.  If he finds a match it should not be transfered on the site.... or if he does, he will create duplicates and this is not an option.

Improvement on profiles should be done directly on Wikitree and only new profiles be added to WT.
But Guy, the new GEDCOMpare tool would allow Bill to compare his GEDCOM with profiles on wikitree and edit those that need updating. He still has to do it one by one. But it would be a bit easier.
Thanks Jillaine, I forgot that new function.
