Which Sarah Ball married Paul Custer?

The two profiles in question are both the same person with one having a later date of birth by ten years and different parents.

Profile Ball-5128 a Sarah Ball (1712-1779) was the daughter of John Ball and Sarah Rhodes.  Profile Manager Janis Tomko

Profile Ball-224 a Sarah Martha Ball (1722-1779) was the daughter of Samuel Henry Ball and Ann Catherine Taylor.  Profile Manager Stuart Bechman, et al.

Both profiles have Paul Custer as the wife of Sarah Martha Ball.

The only evidence that I see that supports both sets of parents is a Family Collection Data, Ancestry, Provo, Utah, listing both of the sets of parents.

On all of my personal trees I have profile Ball-5128 as the correct one, and it compares with other genealogy websites, like geni and ancestry.  It also is supported by other veteran genealogists in the family.

My personal opinion when this happens is to look at the family christian names before and after the person in question.

Ball-5128's mother was Sara Martha and Ball-224 is Ann Catherine.  There are no Sarah Martha's in the Ann Catherine Taylor families.

This an important connection between the Ball and Custer families.  Is there anyone in WikiTree that can help these profile managers out.

Ball-5128 profile manager has stopped and not added any parents but Ball-224 profile manager has listed Samuel Ball and Ann Catherine as the parents with only one questionable source and made the connection.

I think this connection is wrong.  What do you say?

Thanks for bringing this to our collective attention. The Ball families of early Virginia have been quite challenging, and we have run into significant disagreement about some of them in the past.

I’ve added southern_colonies as a tag in hopes of getting that project’s attention.
You also might consider editing your original post and titling it something like “which Sarah Ball married Paul Custer?” That might increase the likelihood of getting the attention of Ball and Custer researchers.
I'm new to this forum (except for my introduction), but just posted about a somewhat similar issue. I share your frustration.

In my case, I have tried to communicate with the page managers but haven't gotten an response.

I suggest starting a friendly conversation with profile managers on both of these two pages. You can do this by sending private queries to the profile managers, sharing the information you've found so far and asking for their input on the points you raise.

Hopefully, the profile managers will respond to you, and possibly follow up on correcting information and/or merging these two profiles--if they do indeed belong to the same individual.
