I downloaded a 1880 U.S. Federal Census and would like to know how to add the text so I do not have to retype everything.

If you found the record on FamilySearch (say by using the Research pull down menu from the profile) you can cut and paste some information about the census from the Citing this Record and from the indexed summary

it depends on what exactly you downloaded... did you download text, or did you download an image of text?

if its an image, then there's no text to copy/paste.
