Adding source links.

New to this, but getting more confident!

When adding sources i've been typing..

* Name Event http ref

It works but looks untidy

Then tried using the <ref> </ref> tags resulting in..

* Name Event <ref>http link</ref>

which gives the result..

* Name Event [1]

Much tidier, and the [1] is a hyperlink. But to where? Although looking active, it doesn't link to anywhere. Do I need to make a list of links somewhere?

Thanks in advance..

..said I was a newbie. Just realised I was still on the editing screen, rather than public view! Think I'm getting there!!..
looks like Doug Lockwood has made a number of edits for you to improve the look.

You're close.  The format for a hyperlink is:

[URL Displayed Text]

Example:

[http://google.com This is my link to Google]

will appear as This is my link to Google

There is a single space after the URL.  If you don't enter any text to display after the URL, it will appear like [1].
