Help finding Dock Preston Johnson b 1865 d 1918.

+3 votes
I have been stuck on my 2x great grandfather for years. His name was Dock Preston Johnson, some family say Dock was a nick name some say it was his given name. He was born in South Carolina. He met and married Mary Frances Dickey in Alabama about 1882. They moved to Texas and lived in Bastrop and Henderson Counties. They had four children John L, Travis Preston (my great grandfather), Ethel, and Doshia. He died in 1918 we think from the flu his son John and John's young daughter also died in 1918. It is thought that Docks brother Daniel and a sister Doshia may have moved to Texas with him. Any information would be greatly welcomed.

It sounds like you already know quite a bit, so I don't know if I'm just giving you information you already had, but here are a few census records from

I cut and pasted the transcription of the records, but if you want to see what each number or place means, you should look at the actual document.  (For example, the 17 after Dock's name is for the number of years he's been married.)
