If you hit enter twice (ie. leave a blank line between paragraphs on the edit page) there will be a line break on the profile.

Yes, but that will leave a blank line on the view page also. Using the ENTER key only once will show a new line on the edit page but will be completely ignored on the view page.

Tracey's
solution is the only way I know to start a new line on the view page without leaving a blank line.
Placing a colon and a space at the beginning of a piece of text also puts it on a new line, albeit indented.

I often use bullets

* this is an unnumbered bullet (don't put a space before the *)

# this is a numbered bullet (don't put a space before the #)

or

: this will a) force a line break and b) indent the line a bit

Again, these will all leave a blank line before the first bullet, number, or indent. If you want something on the start of the next line, without skipping a line, the only way I know is with a single
.

If you want to leave a blank line before continuing then you can use a bullet, number, indent,

(that's 2 line break codes), or you can just press ENTER twice on the edit page - when you see a skipped line on the edit page, it *WILL* show up as a skipped line on the view page.
