Josias Weitprecht (German Anatomist 1702-1747) - Is this a notable profile?

Hi

While adding sources to some orphaned german profiles, I also entered some family members and siblings of that family (I am not related to any of them). Thereby I added a person which seems to be a Notable (according to Wikipedia one of the most famous anatomists of his time).

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josias_Weitbrecht

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josias_Weitbrecht

What should I do with this profil. Add a notables tag?  Are there any further categories I should add? ...

Hi Manuela,

The "Notables Project" page states
"Having a Wikipedia entry automatically qualifies somebody as being Notable".

You have already added the Notables template. [EDIT: This is correct according to the rules of the Notables Project.]

I would add [EDIT: the following categories to the profile]
* Category: German Notables
* Category: Medical Pioneers
* Category: Physiologists

Best wishes and a happy new year

Eric, May I politely Question the narrowness of the definition shown above? If only these items, then the originator must have had a scientific and German focus.

Many many categories beyond the medical and the German should exist in the Notables framework. Among them so many that to begin a listing here is foolish to the point of taking all day.

Perhaps Jack Day would be the Wikitreer who should decide what Notables is defined as?! He's a master of that activity.
Roberta, I think you have misunderstood my answer. I am referring to Josias Weitprecht regarding the categories I would add.

Certainly, I don't suggest to restrict notables to German scientists!

Thanks to you, Pischel-8, for responding. Just so's you know: The grammar of your note is the indicator. We can't be too careful with it, particularly the references caused in our sentences along the way.

I admit my answer was quite terse. I've edited it to make the intended meaning clearer. Is it better now?

However, I still don't get why anyone would think that my proposed definition for Notables would be "German physiologists only". I mean even if I were a German nationalist (which I am definitely not!), I wouldn't restrict it to physiologists. So I had no idea my answer would be interpreted like this.
