I mistakenly rejected a merge.

+5 votes

I had a request to merge two profiles, which I have rejected due to them being two different people.  In the meantime I had to correct the mother for numerous children and in confusion I rejected a merge between duplicates of one of the children. (That's what I get for way too many windows open at the same time.)

Clear as mud? Below is my mistake. How can I correct it? Thanks for any help.

Thank you. Rachel Mendenhall (Gardner-8067) and Rac Rachel Gardner (Gardner-2735) hel Gardner (Gardner-2735) have been marked as Rejected Matches.

All you need to do is remove the rejected match and propose a new merge.

Thanks, Shirley. I didn't know how to remove the rejected match so I went ahead and proposed a  merge (as if nothing had even happened), which allowed me to remove the rejected match. Perhaps there is a shorter way, but this seems to work.
This works ok. If you look at the rejected matches on any profile, there is usually a link to remove them. But either way works just fine.
Good to know, and thanks again, Shirley. I thought I had done something irreversible!
About the only thing that is irreversible on WikiTree is completing a merge. That's why we need to be sure the two profiles are the same, a bad merge cannot be undone. A new profile must be created for the one erroneously merged away.
Thanks, Shirley Dalton. I'll remember that. (Hopefully)
Re: Match Rejection Error & Undoing It

And one year later I thank you all too. I love finding a G2G conversation that's an excellent recap of the profile 'status' situation being spoken about (false match rejection and undoing it all).
