If the date of his birth was before 1882 Dennistoun was not called Dennistown it was Barony Parish. After 1882 the Barony Parish was divided and split into the following districts in Glasgow.
Maryhill, Lambhill, Bishopriggs,
Kelvinside, Possil, Balornock,
Springburn, Provanmill, Millerston,
Dennistoun, Garthamlock, Carntyne,
Palton, Barlanark, Shettleston,
Tollcross and Barrachnie.
