issues with saving a relative to my tree

Hello everyone,

Brand new to Wiki Tree - I am trying to add my great-great grandfather on my paternal side. I have filled in all of the information, and chosen to "add father", but nothing happens! I was able to add my father, my grandfather and my great-grandfather with no issues. I have tried logging out and logging back in, which did not help, and I have not received any error messages for missing information. Any advice on how to resolve this issue?

After you hit save (or Add) after having entered information is there a red banner at the top of the page conveying any sort of error? I sometimes miss this when I've entered something incorrectly-- for example, if I've put a non-alpha character in a name field, or a non-numeric character in a date field.

Unfortunately, no, there's not. I've just tried to enter him again, and the same thing - absolutely nothing happens.

It looks like you've only added your father and your grandfather. If you go to your grandfather's profile (Demko-44), you're not able to click [father?]? Can you tell me where exactly in the process you're running into a problem?

I was mistaken - I'm trying to add my great- grandfather, Louis Demko. When I try to add him, I complete all of the information, and then click "Add Father of Joseph John Demko" and absolutely nothing happens.

I have since been adding my mother's side, and that is working fine, so Im not sure where the problem is for this particular entry

I don't have an answer as to *why* but just wanted to say this has happened to me several times. I always set it aside and then go back later to add them from scratch, and it works. So, you're not doing anything wrong, and you're not crazy. Most of the time everything works as it should.

It may be an edit conflict - this sometimes happens if you have the form open for more than a certain length of time, or if you edit the person you clicked from to get the new person form up, before you finish adding them.

If you can't save them, just close the window, open a fresh form and start again, adding their basic info and a source before saving. You can then edit the profile if you want to add more info. This will help avoid the time out.
