If wikitree suggests a match and I am not sure if it is correct, what should I do before I import my tree?

In the first place you should contact the other Profile Manager for more information, it happens more with the red private profiles so you should include enough information about your person for them to make a decission.

I would suggest that before you start firing off PM's you check the users contributions, from their profile page, if they have not contributed anything for years they are not going to give you an answer. You can then decide whether to skip your import and sort it out later or import the possible duplicate and sort it out later. The problem with skipping your import is that you also lose the family relationships to that person.

In the end it comes down to your judgement, have you tried to prevent duplicates? If there is no information to go on and no reasonable expectation of more information then you have done your best. Occasional duplicates are to be expected.
